Singapore Airlines announceda low-cost long-haul airline Scoot on 1 November 2011. Scoot air tickets will be 40 percent cheaper than regular airlines and will fly on long haul routes from Singapore, initially to Australia and China.
Scoot’s fleet is expected to consist of four Boeing 777-200. Its initial fleet would be acquired from its parent airline and reconfigured with a new seating layout. There are plans in place to have 14 aircraft by 2016.
